"I bought these tires a couple of months ago for my new Mazda 3. Since then we've had a 2 or 3 pretty bad days of snow and I've driven over 1500kms. The tires were a little on the pricy side but dealers told me that I should see a difference in wear as compared to less expensive models. Only time will tell on that one. I was looking at the Michelin X-Ice, Pirelli Snowsport and Yokohama AVS. I like the stock tires are Toyo's and the Garits received a very good review on www.apa.ca. And I was really looking for a "Winter Tire" as apposed to an extreme "Snow Tire". I live in the burbs outside Toronto so they looked like they would be perfect for me and the Mazda.
So far they have lived up the reviews and all my expectations. The noise level is good and they handle well on dry, wet and slushy roads. In the snow they are better than I expected. Last winter I used a set of "Pirelli Winter Carving" on my old car. The Pirellis had quite a bit more bite in the snow that the Toyo's. But that was a different car so its not really a fair comparison. Another plus is that the Toyos do not have a soft balloon feel like the Pirellis had.
I would recommend these to someone looking for a better handling Winter Tire. Also they come in a wide variety of sizes and profiles." - Terry of Mississauga on December 21, 2005
